ArtyA’s First Micro-Rotor Calibre and the new Luminity Wavy Collection
Sculptural, visually open cases meet a new generation of movement.

ArtyA, the avant-garde, family-run Swiss watchmaker known for its expressive, often unconventional horological creations of its founder Yvan Arpa, introduces the next evolution of its Luminity collection with a significant update: the launch of its first proprietary micro-rotor movement, the calibre AMR-02. Combining a visually open design with chronometric performance, this new collection keeps movement architecture at the forefront, framed within the brand’s signature sculptural case, now available in Grade 5 titanium and full sapphire.
The new ArtyA Luminity Wavy Collection comes in the instantly recognisable ArtyA “Wavy” case, redesigned for this new series in 40mm diameter and 13mm thickness. Available in either full Grade 5 titanium (also offered with black DLC coating) or full sapphire, the case’s organic, undulating contours create a fluid visual impression from all angles.
The titanium variant features full sandblasting and a DLC protective coating (with hardness up to 1200 Vickers), making it as resilient as lightweight. Sapphire editions are sculpted from one of the hardest minerals, with hand-polished surfaces reflecting light across the contours of the case architecture. Each case is fitted with triple anti-reflective sapphire crystals front and back.
The collection offers two dial configurations. The first is a full sapphire dial (clear, tinted, or NanoSapphire Chameleon), offering good visibility of the movement. Brushed and diamond-polished markers ensure legibility despite the transparency. The second dial option incorporates natural stone, either meteorite or aventurine, into the centre section, blending texture with mechanical performance. These versions maintain a partially open view of the movement.
The focus of the new Luminity Wavy models is the AMR-02, an automatic movement made by the Swiss movement specialist Telos, with a tungsten micro-rotor, chosen for its mass and efficiency, which allows the calibre to remain ultra-slim at 3.6mm. AMR-02 offers an 82-hour power reserve, provided by the twin-barrel system, with parallel barrels using longer, finer mainsprings to deliver smoother, more linear torque. This results in a consistent power output. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour.
The AMR-02 is composed of 160 parts, including 30 jewels, and features decorations like perlage, rhodium-plated wheels, laser-engraved signatures, and black-polished screws. Bridges and the anthracite mainplate are hand-finished, with femto-laser detailing reinforcing the movement’s visual quality.
The series is offered on a nubuck leather strap, closed with an ArtyA pin buckle, with or without black DLC coating. The ArtyA Luminity Wavy Micro-Rotor is limited to 99 pieces per configuration. Prices start at CHF 17,900/EUR 19,100 for a titanium/black DLC case and transparent sapphire dial variant and go up to CHF 39,900/EUR 42,000 for the sapphire case and stone dial. This watch begs the question of: why?
Not beautiful. Not durable. Not very legible. No complications but time. Not cheap either.
Why would anyone buy it 🤔
