The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr. Woo Episode III

A fusion of cosmological symbolism, artistic vision, and high-performance mechanics.

Roger Dubuis continues its creative partnership with tattoo artist Dr Woo in the third chapter of their collaborative series: the Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr Woo Episode III. Following the debut of Episode I in 2021 and the ceramic-cased Monobalancier Episode II in 2023, this new model dives deeper into space-inspired storytelling, merging symbolic design with technical mastery.

The 42mm Excalibur case combines lightweight titanium with 18k pink gold for the bezel and caseback. It features alternating polished and satin finishes, the signature crown with guards, and engraved symbols by Dr. Woo on the bezel and mid-links of the titanium-and-gold bracelet. The sapphire crystal caseback displays a radiating chequerboard motif and an engraved message around the edge: Let’s work together to uncover the mysteries of the cosmos and unlock the secrets of the universe. The watch is 100m water-resistant.

The openworked dial is a blend of galactic motifs and high-end watchmaking. At 7 o’clock, the flying tourbillon has a redesigned, minimal bridge supporting a spiral-shaped decoration inspired by the Whirlpool Galaxy. The rotating barrel cover at 1 o’clock features pink-gold planetary motifs that shift throughout the day. Additional design elements include a pink-gold rocket on the sapphire crystal at 12 o’clock engraved with We Come in Peace, three nebulas at 9 o’clock, and Dr. Woo’s black-ink spider symbol at 10 o’clock. A spiral pink-gold “black hole” motif between 10 and 11 is mirrored on the back of the watch.

Powering the watch is the in-house, hand-finished Calibre RD515. This hand-wound Poinçon de Genève-certified movement features a flying tourbillon, a 72-hour power reserve, and runs at 28,800 vibrations/hour. It comprises 193 parts, with 16 types of finishing, including Geneva stripes, perlage, polished bevels, and a mirror-polished spiral.

The watch is paired with an interchangeable, titanium and pink gold bracelet closed with a triple folding buckle. Limited to 28 pieces, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Monotourbillon Dr. Woo Episode III is priced at CHF 166,000 or EUR 186,000. For more information, please visit www.rogerdubuis.com.
