The New Brellum Pandial Marina Tricompax Chronometer

A nautical tachymeter for sailors on board the new shipshape Pandial Marina series.

Founded in 2016 by Sébastien Muller, Brellum has consolidated a portfolio of well-built chronographs with a slightly vintage aura powered by chronometer-certified movements. With a limited production of around 299 watches a year, Brellum’s policy of direct sales allows the brand to keep its prices in check. The Pandial collection highlighted its racetrack credentials with a two-tone dial and external tachymeter bezel in 2017 to great effect. Today, the chronograph embraces nautical sports with the release of the new Pandial Marina Tricompax Chronometer. Fitted with a COSC-certified La Joux-Perret base, this column-wheel chronograph is available in two case materials and features a nautical tachymeter scale for sailing enthusiasts.

The new Pandial Marina models come in 43mm diameter cases with a thickness of 15.9mm, including the glassbox sapphire crystal over the dial and the domed sapphire exhibition window on the caseback. Water-resistant to 100 metres, the models are available in stainless steel or ultra-light and corrosion-resistant grade 5 titanium. Both versions feature a mix of polished and brushed finishes. The classic piston-style pushers for the chronograph flank the large, knurled crown.

The external tachymeter scale that distinguishes the Pandial collection is positioned on the bezel and features a blue background with white markings. Underscoring its marine-oriented personality, the watch features a second tachymeter scale placed on the sloping flange, expressed in nautical miles. The nautical tachymeter is picked out in white with blue markings and is magnified by the glassbox crystal.

The central area of the dial is navy blue and hosts three sub-dials arranged in a classic 3-6-9 tricompax layout. Orange Super-LumiNova is applied to the tips of the central hour and minute hands, but only on five of the 12 hour markers. The remaining diamond-cut indices are filled with white Super-LumiNova. Visible yet well-balanced, the date window is tucked inside the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock with numerals picked out in orange. Another unexpected design feature is the ghost counter in the centre of the dial with a snailed 60-minute ring, presumably to reinforce the readings of the central chronograph seconds hand.

Marking a first for the Pandial collection, the Marina is equipped with the BR-110 calibre. Used inside the Pandial Bicompax and Duobox released last year, the watch relies on a La Joux-Perret column-wheel chronograph movement with a robust 60-hour power reserve and COSC chronometer certification. Finished with perlage, blued screws, stripes and a customised openworked rotor, the movement can be viewed through the sapphire crystal on the caseback.

The titanium Brellum Pandial Marina Tricompax, limited to 23 pieces, is paired with a navy blue Nebur Tec strap and a titanium deployant buckle and retails for CHF 3,690. Also limited to 23 pieces, the steel Pandial Marina is paired with a steel bracelet and retails for CHF 3,490; it can be ordered with a Nebur Tec strap for an extra CHF 290. Available from 12 June exclusively online at brellum.swiss.
