The Alpina Alpiner Extreme Automatic 39mm, Now in Titanium
Lighter and stronger, Alpina presents its first titanium watch and bracelet in the more compact 39mm Alpiner Extreme range.

Alpina flexed its powerful sports watch muscles early in the game with its 1938 Alpina 4, a robust model with shock and water-resistance features, anti-magnetic properties and a sturdy steel case. The heavy-duty Alpiner Extreme, released in 2005 and refreshed in 2022, is a worthy descendant of the Alpina 4. Combining its sporty, shaped case with attractive textured dials, the Alpiner Extreme is designed for the great outdoors but will stand up to scrutiny in urban environments. Recently released with an on-trend ice blue dial, the next step on the contemporary sports watch list has been ticked with the introduction of a titanium case, a first for Alpina. The 39mm case size of the Alpiner Extreme has been chosen to represent the brand’s first titanium model, paired with a light grey dial for a sleek monochromatic look.
Without extolling all the virtues of titanium, suffice it to say that its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio results in a much lighter and stronger watch. Moreover, its resilience to corrosion is an advantage for a watch exposed to harsh and wet environments. Available in two case sizes (39mm and 41mm), the more compact 39mm case, introduced in 2024, has been selected for the titanium treatment.
The 39mm titanium cushion-shaped case with a thickness of 11.5mm features the signature fixed round bezel with its six exposed Alpina screws. Viewed in profile, you can appreciate the dynamic finishes accentuating its bold tiered architecture. The bezel and upper layer of the cushion-shaped case are decorated with a sporty brushed finish and pronounced polished bevels. Designed to endure knocks, blows and bad weather, there are protective bumpers on both sides of the case. The large screw-down crown ensures the 200m water-resistance and features a grey rubber cladding to enhance grip.
The polished case middle, which is sandwiched between the outer cushion-shaped sections, extends beyond the confines of the case to integrate the 3-link bracelet. Identical in build to the integrated bracelets in steel, the new titanium bracelet with flat H links is decorated with vertically brushed surfaces and polished flanks and secured to the wrist with a folding push-button clasp.
Characterised by its monochromatic grey suit, the light grey dial is embossed with the brand’s hallmark triangles and a contemporary matte satin finish. The applied and polished indices are filled with luminescent material, matching the hour and minute hands. A framed date window at 3 o’clock, a sloping silver minutes track with black markers, and the central seconds hand with a red Alpina triangle counterweight complete the dial.
Powered by the automatic calibre AL-525, a Sellita SW200-1 base with a customised black rotor, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations/hour and a somewhat limited power reserve of 38 hours, the movement is hidden beneath the solid screw-down caseback. The Alpiner Extreme Automatic Titanium retails for EUR 2,495. More information at alpinawatches.com.
