Nomos to participate in a charity auction for the benefit of Aviation Without Borders.
The title Just Because says it all… because today we’re not talking about the latest release of a brand for sale the next day in stores, waiting for you to spend your money. Today, we are publishing a story for a good cause, to benefit those in need, those who have fewer opportunities than many participating in or enjoying this industry. On Wednesday, June 18, Artcurial will hold a charity auction for the benefit of Aviation Without Borders (Aviation sans Frontières). Among the 30-ish lots offered, which include a weightless flight aboard the Airbus Zero G or a captain’s uniform worn and signed by John Travolta, will be three special watches made by Nomos Glashütte.
To support the humanitarian missions of the association, numerous artists, celebrities, top athletes, and companies have joined forces to offer unique experiences and exceptional items for auction. The proceeds from the auction will contribute to financing a global-scale project: the creation of the first hospital-plane, a world premiere and an innovative device designed to quickly deploy a mobile care unit in the most remote areas of the planet. In parallel with the auction, Aviation Without Borders will present this project at the Paris Air Show, where it will also showcase the Nynja ultralight aircraft assembled by the young people of the Ailes de l’Avenir workshop, which will be offered for sale.
The lots offered for the auction include a weightless flight, a T-shirt worn during a space mission, a pilot’s helmet from the Patrouille de France, an original fragment of a plane, and historical items related to the aeronautical world. Those will benefit the NGO, recognised of public utility, providing essential logistical support to hundreds of humanitarian actors by ensuring the delivery of emergency aid and the transport or accompaniment of people worldwide, thanks to 800 volunteers.
Nomos will be offering three rather special watches for the auction. In 2023, Nomos created three special edition watches for the French company Air France. These were sold exclusively to Air France employees; however, Nomos kept the case number AF001 of each watch for the auction. It includes an Orion 33 with a champagne dial, a Minimatik 35 with a silver dial and AF blue markers, and a Zürich Worldtime with a blue dial. All three bear the winged seahorse, Air France’s symbol. The Zürich watch is the most original of all, as its dial doesn’t show cities as usual, but IATA Airport Codes instead. On the back, the mention “Edition Speciale pour Air France” can be found.
