The 50th Anniversary Bulgari Bulgari Models with Marble Dials

Italian flair, gold cases and stone dials to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Bulgari Roma watch.

The Bulgari Bulgari remains one of the brand‘s most iconic watches, alongside the Octo and the Serpenti, defined by its clean design and bold bezel engraving. Its story began in 1975 when Bulgari introduced the Bulgari Roma, a limited-edition timepiece designed by Gianni Bulgari as a personal gift for the brand’s top 100 clients. Featuring a gold case inspired by Roman columns and a bezel engraved with “BULGARI ROMA,” the watch embodied the brand’s signature style: minimalist, bold, and contemporary. Paired with a quartz movement and a macramé strap, it was unconventional and memorable. Though never intended for mass production, demand for the Bulgari Roma grew by word of mouth. In 1977, Gérald Genta reinterpreted the design to create the first commercial series, Bulgari Bulgari, establishing the brand’s double-logo bezel as a visual hallmark.

Styled after ancient Roman inscriptions and reminiscent of antique coins, the distinctive lettering became central to Bulgari’s design language. Since then, the Bulgari Bulgari has evolved in size, material, and even logo usage, sometimes omitting it altogether. In 2025, Bulgari celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original Bulgari Roma with two new releases in 38mm and 26mm cases, featuring marble dials and quartz or automatic movements. We focus on the 38 mm automatic models: the Bulgari Bulgari 50th Anniversary and Bulgari Bulgari Marble Dial, following the updates introduced in 2024.

The 50th Anniversary edition (Ref. 104112) features a slim 38mm x 8.75mm yellow gold case, 50m water resistance, and a bezel engraved with the original “BVLGARI ROMA” design, evoking the edge of an ancient Roman coin. A special 50th-anniversary engraving appears on the display caseback. The dial, cut from Verde Alpi green marble, is clean and logo-free, with slim golden baton indices, Arabic numerals at 6 and 12, and golden central hands for time and running seconds.

The Marble Dial model (Ref. 104113), in 18k rose gold, shares the same dimensions and layout but opts for the familiar double-logo bezel and omits the anniversary engraving on the back. Its dial is made from Blu Incanto marble, with matching golden indices and hands.

Both models are powered by the BVL 191 Solotempo automatic movement (no-date version), beating at 28,800 vibrations/hour with a 42-hour power reserve. The movement includes a ceramic ball-bearing rotor and stop-seconds function for precise time-setting.

Each watch is paired with an alligator leather strap, green for the yellow gold version and blue for the rose gold, secured with a matching pin buckle. Both watches are priced at EUR 18,000; the green 50th Anniversary model is limited to 150 pieces. For more information, visit bulgari.com.
