The New Ressence TYPE 9 S75 to Celebrate Ahmed Seddiqi’s 75 Years
A symbolic union of material, heritage, and horological innovation, quite literally etched in sand.

Ressence’s partnership with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, UAE’s leading watch and jewellery retailer, has produced a series of limited editions over the years, each celebrating local heritage through innovative design. From the Type 1 DXB with its Arabesque-inspired grid motif to the Type 1 Slim DX2, and the Type 1 DX3 featuring traditional Girih geometric art, the collaboration has consistently delivered watches that blend cultural storytelling with Ressence’s signature design philosophy. To celebrate Seddiqi’s 75th anniversary, the two partners return with something more elemental: the Ressence TYPE 9 S75, a mechanical tribute to the country’s landscape, with a dial literally made from local sand.
The Grade 5 titanium case of the Ressence TYPE 9 S75 measures 39mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, and just like the standard version of this watch, it delivers lightweight comfort (total weight is 40 grams) and sleek wrist presence. With no crown, the case maintains a fluid silhouette, emphasising Ressence’s core principle of seamless design. The watch can be manually wound and set via a two-direction rotating caseback mechanism.
The Ressence Type 9 features a dial composed of real sand collected from all seven emirates, which brings a tangible, textural connection to the UAE’s desert geography. The sand is bonded directly to the rotating titanium discs that form the dial, creating an earthy, mineral texture. The hour indices on the ring and minutes markings on the bezel are engraved and filled with green Grade A Super-LumiNova to enhance visibility. In typical Ressence fashion, time is shown via the patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System), where sub-dials orbit the main dial in a fluid motion.
Powering the TYPE 9 S75 is the customised automatic calibre (ETA2894/2 base) with a mounted atop ROCS 9 module. The base movement’s minute axle drives the ROCS 9 to animate a fully rotating dial with a satellite sub-display. The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offers a 36-hour power reserve. The entire dial structure is supported by a jewel-mounted bearing, with the dials inclined for optimal viewing angles.
The watch is worn on a camel leather strap, a nod to regional tradition. The strap measures 20mm at the lugs, tapering to 18mm, and is closed with a polished Grade 5 titanium ardillon buckle, matching the case in tone and finish.
The Ressence TYPE 9 S75 is available in a limited edition of 20, priced at CHF 15,500 (excluding taxes). For availability, visit ressencewatches.com and seddiqi.com.
